Hot Air Balloon

Someone had an idea to build a hot air balloon!! So Papi found a plan and we went to the shop to buy what we needed.

We all helped to cut it out and stick the pieces together.

It was going to be a pretty big balloon!

Here we are with our balloon.

We thought we would give it a test run to see if it would fly.....and it did.

We waited until it was a little cooler outside so we could fly it again. Papi was in charge of lighting the fire.
It flew quite high and a bit too close to the pine tree.
Lucky it was still attached to a kite string so we could pull it back down as it was going to fly away!!

...........even luckier that Mum and our Uncle were fast to get the hose to put out the fires that started in the tree and on the grass!!!!!!!

School and Chocolate - By ZOE

We have now been in school for 3 days.On the first day I was really nervous because I didn't know anyone not even my teacher. It is really cool at school and different to in Australia. because we have turnen (sport) but we have to change into different clothes to do sport and it is always in the hall. Also we get to do warg (wood work) it is really cool. Today we got to go to a bakery that also makes chocolates. First we had to walk to it then we got split into groups my group was first. We went down a few steps to where they make the chocolates.We got to make 2 little bugs 1 with mazipan then we dipped it in chocolate and put two mazipan wings on.The 2nd one we put a chocolate mousse bug shape and dipped it into chocolate and then put 2nuts as the wings. Then we got to get 2 oranges and 1 pineapple and dipped it in chocolate. The oranges and pineapple were sugared. We made a few other chocolates the last thing we did was get a heart made out of white chocolate and we wrote our name on it with brown chocolate. Then we swapped over with the next group and went to play on a playground and then went to a little river the that we could jump over. When the other group was finished we caught the bus home. It was lots of fun and I can't wait to eat the chocolate.

The Glass Shop - By SHAY

One day we went to our friends house to play and while we were there we did some iron beads. We went to a glass shop with them before we went to the glass shop we had to draw what we were going to make. We walked to the glass shop. We had to wait for a table. The lady who worked there gave us a square of glass. We had to draw what we were going to make on the glass. She showed us how to cut the glass. We got the glass and started cutting them with special cutters and glued them on to the glass. I was making a snake. When I was cutting some glass my finger started to bleed and I thought it was because of some sharp glass. When I had finished my plate I quickly made a little thing. We had to leave the glass stuff that we made so that she could cook it so that the glass would melt so we have to go back next week. We had to go home. When we got home we had dinner and after dinner my dad looked at my finger and there was some glass in it and he got it out with a needle and tweezers and it really hurt.

Today we went to see my old friend Elizabeth and her brother Blake it was fun seeing them again because we havent seen them for 4 years. At their house they have 2 very cute hamsters but my mum didn't want to hold them. We also made iron beads that was lots of fun too . After a while we went to a glass shop where you get a clear piece of glass and then you need to wear special glasses and you need to cut the glass with the tools and then glue it on . There were a lot of different colour glass. I made a turtle for paa and berta and just something else for mum and daddy. When we finished the lady put it on the tray ready so she could cook it in the very hot oven. Mum will pick it up in a couple of weeks.

Today we went to our new Swiss school. It is not very far to walk and when we know the way we can go ourselves. When i got there they had to do a work sheet but i didn't. After that we watched a movie about god and jesus because it was easter but i did not understand all of it. Then they went to the gym place and played lots of sport but i did not get to do it because i did not have any "Turn" clothes - which is sport things. When they had finished then it was home time and we rode our scooters home. It was lots of fun and i can't wait to go back after the holidays.

At Switzerland it was friday and we were going to a german school. I was very nervous i sat at a table and then they did a maths test and some other maths stuff and then i played a game with them. It was fun and then my teacher read a book but I couldn't really understand it and then it was home time and we rode our scooters home with my dad. We only stayed for 2 hours on our first day and we will go back in 2 weeks after the Easter holidays.

This a photo of Brugge a city we went to in Belgium. It is has a medieval part that is really old and very interesting. Mum kept saying it was like a Fairytale - so I kept asking where are the Unicorns?

Going To Belgium - By SHAY

On thursday the 26th of march 2009 we didn't go to school we went to sydney in the car it was a rentel car. On the way we stopped so we could have some lunch it took us 3 hours to get there when we got there we drove to the airport we had to wait 3 hours. We went to the qantas club it was all fancy. Then we got on the plane we waited a little bit for the plan to start flying it took us 8 hours to get to singapore. It was boring on the plane then we waited 1 hour for the next plane then we got on the plane and we were going to Germany it took us 12 hours it was really boring. We rented a car to drive to Belgium about 4 hours it was boring. We are here to see our aunty and uncle and our new baby cousin Evelynne. She is very cute. We are staying in Belgium for 4 days.

THe Plane Trip - By ZOE

On the flight to Singapore it took 8 hours we did lots of things on the plane and we had dinner too. Then on the second flight it took 12 hours from Singapore to Frankfurt and it was really boring so I slept for most of it! When we got to Frankfurt in Germany we had to hire a car and drive to Belgium that took 4 hours! We had to drive through some of Holland too so in less than 2 days we went to 5 different countries. When we got to Belgium we saw my uncle Russell my Aunty Shannon and my new cousin Evelynne and she is so cute.
